I believe they would have to hard-line them to the surface, which could really cause some logistical nightmares for these things.
The mechanical energy is converted into electricity through those coils you see in the vid. I think they are wrapped around a magnet, and as they move, they generate a current by moving through the magnetic field. Like how a solenoid works, but just opposite kind of haha.
Yeah I would have to imagine that the coils are wrapped around a magnet, and as they move through the magnetic field, they generate an alternating current. Pretty cool!
@Truthiness231, I have to say, you must be pretty dumb. I mean, this technology exists, so it MUST work, and it’s irresponsible and completely illogical to point out potential “flaws.” Just like ethanol production as a viable alternative to our oil consumption…it is prevalent, so it must work!

They probably are coils much like wind turbines use to generate electricity except as the elements go up and down instead of spinning.
the saving is probably more than the cost, but so are wind farms, solar panels, and other renewable energy sources. the real question is can it be cheap than fossil fuel.

the proffesor that invented the concept wouldn’t have made such a big deal about the invention if it cost more to run it than what you save from running it. it doesn’t make sense and it wouldnt get any attention if there was that possibility.

I am an engineer and I know exact what he is talking about. The concept does sound feasible, but making it work in real life is another thing.
